"Can I connect my hearing aid to my phone?" is one of the most common questions we get at our Lajpat Nagar store. The short answer is yes — most modern digital hearing aids from Phonak, Signia, ReSound and Widex support Bluetooth streaming, but the experience varies by brand and model.
What You Can Stream Directly
- Phone calls — answer and talk hands-free, with your voice picked up by the hearing aid's microphones or a phone clip.
- Music and podcasts from your phone, streamed in stereo to both ears.
- TV audio via a small Bluetooth TV connector box, sent wirelessly straight to your hearing aids at a level that suits you — without turning up the volume for everyone else in the room.
- Video calls on WhatsApp, Zoom or similar apps, using the same streaming connection as phone calls.
Android vs iPhone Compatibility
Most newer premium hearing aids support direct, two-way Bluetooth streaming with iPhones (Made for iPhone). Android support has improved significantly with the Auracast and ASHA standards, but direct two-way streaming (including a working microphone during calls) still depends on the specific hearing aid model and Android phone combination — our audiologist can confirm compatibility with your exact phone before you buy.
Controlling Everything From an App
Brand apps like myPhonak, Signia App, ReSound Smart 3D and Widex MOMENT let you adjust volume, switch listening programs, and fine-tune settings for different environments — without touching the device itself.
What It Cannot Replace
Bluetooth streaming is a convenience feature, not a hearing correction feature by itself — the device still needs to be properly fitted and programmed to your audiogram for clear everyday hearing.
